If an event you're in has a friendship-altering dialogue option, the skip button will replaced with unique one notifying you that there is an important decision coming up.

When you begin an event with friendship dialogue, the skip button will change to reflect it.
This includes mod-added events, because it scans for any responses that affect friendship.
SUPPORTED UI RECOLORS
You can select your recolors in-game with Generic Mod Configuration Menu installed.
You are looking for the entry "(CP) Skip or Socialize". Typically located at the top of the list.
